Packaged Plate Water Heaters
Packaged Plate Water Heaters
The BPH / PFH Series water heaters are designed to work in conjunction with condensing or specialty hydronic boilers. The plate type heat exchanger maximizes the heat transfer between the boiler water and the domestic water returning water to the boiler lower than the traditional u-bend heat exchangers allowing these heaters can use less gpm of boiler water and low temperature boiler water. The BPH / PFH is with out a storage tank for use instantaneously or piped to an existing storage tank. BPH / PFH water heaters have the ability to heat up to 5,000,000 BTU/hr of hot water.

Solid State Operating Control
The CEMLINE CEM-TROL® incorporates operating and limit functions in one solid state controller. The controller features a LED display of the temperature and on board operating PID temperature control along with high temperature safety cut offs and alarm indications. The CEM-TROL® simplifies the control of the Packaged Water Heater, enhances the look of the product, and follows industry trend to solid state controls.
Alarm Bell
An alarm bell is furnished to sound an alarm in the event that either the primary or secondary high temperature limits are exceeded. An alarm silencing relay allows manual pressing of a button to silence the alarm bell, but red warning light remains on until the alarm condition is corrected.
Remote Start/Stop
This feature allows the Packaged Water Heater to be started or stopped from a remote location. Typically this would be accomplished from the Building Automatic System (BAS). Requires a dry contact suitable for 24 Vac and 1 amp.
Advantages of Cemline® Packaged Plate Water Heater
-
Designed to be used with condensing boilers
-
Increase the boiler's efficiency by allowing the condensing boiler to condense
-
Lower return temperatures to the boiler
-
Operate the boiler at a lower temperature
Cemline Packaged Plate Boiler Water Fired Water Heaters are a perfect choice for domestic water heating systems using hydronic boilers including cast iron, copper tube, water tube, or specialty high efficiency boilers. The BPH uses a brazed plate heat exchanger for smaller loads, while the PFH uses a plate & frame heat exchanger for larger loads. The BPH/PFH heat exchanger allows these boilers to operate more efficiently since the BPH/PFH heat exchanger can return the boiler water to the hydronic boiler at lower temperatures than the traditional u-bend heat exchanger. The boiler water can be returned to the boiler as low as 90°F from the BPH/PFH water heater.
Cemline Packaged Plate Water Heaters (BPH/PFH) are completely packaged and ready for use. The BPH/PFH can be used in conjunction with an existing tank or used as an instantaneous water heater. The heaters come complete and require only connection to services.>
The BPH/PFH heat exchanger has a high heat transfer rate allowing for maximum heat transfer between the boiler water and the domestic water. As the heat is transferred from the boiler water to the domestic water, the boiler water can experience large temperature drops through the heat exchanger. The BPH/PFH can achieve larger temperature drops through the heat exchanger requiring less gallons per minute of boiler water than a traditional U-bend heat exchanger that is performing a 20°F delta T on the boiler water side. The large temperature drops occur without laminar flow on the boiler water side of the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger can even allow for temperature crosses between the boiler water outlet and the domestic water outlet temperature, meaning the domestic water outlet temperature can be greater than the returned boiler water temperature.
The boiler can be run at lower temperatures with the BPH/PFH's ability to perform temperature crosses and to take large delta T's as a lower boiler water temperature can be used to make domestic hot water.
Cemline Corporation Brazed Plate Water Heaters are available with a storage tank either a cement lined STONESTEEL® or 316-L stainless steel vessel in sizes 60, 120, 200, 300, 500, and 680 gallon capacity. See Cemline SPH brochure for more details.
The Cemline BPH/PFH comes factory standard with a 2-way electronically operated control valve. The 2-way electronically operated control valve allows for close temperature control of the water heater by modulating flow of the boiler water through the heat exchanger. The BPH/PFH can achieve +/-2°F with a steady state flow and +/- 4°F under normal operating conditions. The 1000:1 turn down ratio of the control valve allows for accurate control of these water heaters.
The Cemline BPH/PFH can be used for a variety of heat recovery systems or in hot water or chilled water systems.
WARNING: BPH/PFH water heaters are not recommended for water with hardness over 140 parts per million. If water hardness exceeds 140 ppm, either put a water softener in the system or use Cemline SEH, SSH, or SWH series water heaters
BIOLER WATER AS THE ENERGY SOURCE
STANDARD EQUIPMENT
CONTROL VALVE
Electronic Control Valve
Electronically operated control valves use a solid state temperature sensor which is wired to an electronic control module. The electronic control module has an adjustable set point. The control module compares the set point with the sensed temperature and sends an electric signal to a magnetic linear actuator on the control valve. The magnetic linear actuator modulates the control valve and regulates the amount of boiler water through the valve to maintain the set point of the controller. When the set point is achieved, the controller sends a signal to the valve actuator and the valve closes. In the event of high temperature or loss of building power, the limit control closes the electric power to the controller which closes the valve.
Two way Valve
A two way valve modulates from fully closed to fully open varying the amount of hot water circulated through the coil to maintain the desired output temperature. When closed the two way valve may cause a change in the heating water loop pressure.
Three way valve
A three way valve modulates from directing all heating water through the coil to directing no heating water through the coil, varying the amount of hot water circulated through the coil to maintain the desired output temperature. The pressure drop in the heating system will be relatively constant with a three way valve.
OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT
Double Safety System
An optional safety system, which will deactivate the main control valve as described in solenoid safety system, will also activate a second solenoid valve to drain excessively heated water from the heater. The controller is designed to permit different set points for the valve closure and draining.
Double Wall Brazed Plate or Plate and Frame Heat Exchanger
Double wall brazed plate or plate and frame heat exchangers have inner and outer plates with a vented leak path. If either the inner or outer plate fails, no cross contamination of potable water is possible and a visible indication of the leak will show.
Built-in PID Control Signal
PID Control Signal used to modulate an electronic control valve or to control I-P transducer modulating an air operated control valve. The PID controller allows for precise temperature control of the water heater.
Built-In LCD Touch Screen Display
The CEM-TROL®II features an easy to read and operate LCD touch screen display. The CEM-TROL®II display indicates temperature set point, operating temperature, and PID voltage output. The CEM-TROL®II touch screen display has an easy to navigate menu system for adjusting the settings of the water heater.
Built-in On-Off Switch
Allows for local on-off and is convenient for service in the unlikely event service is required.
Built-in Alarm Horn
The alarm horn will sound and fault LED will light on high temperature or secondary high temperature. The CEM-TROL® also features an alarm silence relay which will silence the alarm but not the fault light when the generator is being serviced. When the fault is cleared, both the alarm and fault light will automatically reset.
Built-in Single Point Wiring
Only one 120 VAC connection required to the unit, integral circulation pump is pre-wired to the control panel.
